Sex Pistols – 1977 “God Save The Queen” Original Virgin Records Promotional Poster – Designed by famed Anarchist Artist Jamie Reid

Original Sex Pistols 1977 “God Save The Queen” Virgin Records promotional poster desigend by Jamie Reid, the anarchist artist who designed many band’s controversial covers.

Designed for the album that became known as the “most heavily censored record in British history”, poster debicts a black and white Queen Elisabeth II with her features obscured by the song and band names in cutout letters against a traditional Union Jack Flag. The Queen’s eyes and mouth are torn to serval “God Save The Queen Sex Pistols”.

Arguably the single most memorable image to come from the Punk era. When the record sleeves where originally printed, the plate makers became incredibly offended at the Queen’s distored image and halted printing. After much talk, production resumed abd the record was finally released
