John was relatively unknown when he came in for this session. He was young, almost baby faced but I was blown away by his vitality and authenticity. There was nothing preconceptual about the shoot – he was just doing a live performance while we were shooting, totally in the moment in a way that perhaps went beyond what he would do onstage. I wasn’t surprised when his career took off. I’ve been lucky to photograph artists before their careers took flight. When that happens, it’s always a thrill.

Each image is produced in an edition of 50 prints. Within the edition of 50, prints can be ordered in a number of different sizes as set out below (print dimensions vary slightly for vertical prints). Each print is hand signed and numbered by Seeff.
